A design agency sells the full engagement: audit, brand platform, user research, art direction, production, and often paid media or development alongside. It staffs a project team with an account director, an art director and producers, and bills by project or through an annual master agreement.
What an agency does better than us, and this is not a token concession: strategy. A brand overhaul, a positioning call to settle, moderated user testing, a campaign with a shoot and a media budget, a brand platform that has to survive a board presentation. None of that fits inside a production subscription, and we do not do it. An agency also brings contractual accountability and a multidisciplinary bench that a production studio does not replace.
The trade-off is familiar to anyone who has worked with one: rates are almost never public, pricing runs through a bespoke quote, and the quote, scope, approve, produce cycle stretches the timeline on requests that are themselves simple. Everyday production is where a subscription is both faster and cheaper.
